NEW summer essentials

One of the most exciting new additions to our line for Summer 2019, are our JUTE bags.  I have never done a bag using jute before, as we normally do our cotton printed bags, but I do love the strength and durability of raw jute.  What exactly is jute anyway?  Jute is a natural vegetable fibre that is one of the strongest natural fibres around, it comes from the CORCHORUS PLANT, which is commonly found in India and Bangladesh.  The plant grows fully within 5-7 months, it is a rain-fed crop that needs no fertiliser to thrive.  Here is a photo of the plant, and you can read more about it if you click here. Lauren has so many amazing sailing photos of her young family, its hard to decide which ones to share, but I do love this one of her with baby Carley and a lobster that is bigger than the baby. I will never forget my first phone call...

I was exhibiting at my first ever trade show in St.Kitts back in 2006 when Lulu Emery visited the booth.  Lulu represented various gift lines in the Virgin Islands and LOVED my pure cotton sarongs, (something not easily found in the Caribbean) and that was the beginning of a long term friendship.  My first sales rep is still with me after 11 years.  Here we are together in St.Thomas back in 2006. In November 1982 (hmm back when I was in Junior school) Lulu in her youthful search for adventure, left her comfortable Stateside life (she is a California girl) and set sail on a small boat with 3 other people from Fort Lauderdale to St.Thomas, she spent the next 6 months...
